I understand why they try and make it a generic or anonymous driver so the focus stays on the the cars and the hosts  but get over it...

As I understood it, the original reason for the secrecy is that it enabled the show to bring in top-notch drivers who have clauses in their contracts that disallow them from non-team appearances.
