I'm not saying they're not cool, but IMO something like a ALMS or Daytona Prototype car is *much* more impressive than a JGTC (or whatever they're calling that series these days) car that's so influenced by the tuner market in Japan.

That's why I said tuner car, not race car. JGTC is where you look to see what Japanese cars should look like with a full race build, of course. But tuner cars are more about falling somewhere between a somewhat disciplined street/track build and a true race car. I wouldn't say that the aesthetics of the top tuners cars is a negative except when it's things like "extractor" hoods that divert hot air over the radiator.
