This is important news for all our dedicated Solo drivers:

At our next Solo weekend, Sept. 19-20 at Reno-Fernley Raceway, WE WILL NOT BE USING THE PREVIOUSLY PUBLICIZED RUN GROUPINGS. All entrants should show up in time to register, prep their cars, and attend the morning driver's meeting (8:45 a.m.), and all entrants should be prepared to stay all day. At the time of the driver's meeting, registration and timing people will confer and split the total entry into two or three run groups, as appropriate.

The problem we face is that it takes a certain number of people to "man the course." We need to have attendance in the 65-75 range or higher in order to split everyone into four run groups of sufficient size, and our R-FR events have not been drawing that number of entrants. After wrestling with low turnout at our five previous R-FR Solo events this year, Reno Region has decided to adopt "out-of-town" run group rules for our next R-FR Solo weekend. These procedures are the same that we have used in the past at event sites like Lovelock.

Thanks for your understanding. Remember, with the "out-of-town" rules in place, the events will run more smoothly and safely, and there's a distinct possibility that everyone will get more runs than they otherwise would.

At the monthly meeting there was discussion about how to improve the number of available workers for events at the track, and reducing the number of run groups seems the safest bet. Like the email says, plan to be at the track by 8 AM or so to participate.
