Kevin, I don't know if it's cable or hydraulic, and to be honest, I wouldn't even know how to check. And what do you mean by out of adjustment?

If you pop the hood and see what looks like a second, smaller brake master cylinder on the firewall, it's hydraulic, If not, it's cable. Either one can be out of adjustment, sort of like how parking brakes can, which can cause the clutch not to fully engage.
