I think it very well could be totaled.

I've heard that if the C-pillar is bent, the car is toast, it simply can't be fixed properly.

What I'm trying to understand is how someone makes a "clean getaway" while leaving the car behind. Was the Saturn stolen? If not, it should be a cinch to track down the owner and ID the driver.
