I would just get some 3/8" carpet padding and cut some sheets to replace the parts you tossed out. On the other hand, you're talking about 3 ounces of sound deadening that's
beneath your carpet.
Even the most jaded and cynical national level autocrosser isn't go to go digging for that sort of thing,
