In fact Dean, that does make a difference in which direction the TOB moves. On a pull type setup, the bearing moves away from the engine when you release the clutch disc. On a push, it moves toward the engine.
All I can do without seeing it is suggest things you've likely already heard a dozen times: Do you have the right clutch disc? Is the clutch release fork pivot pin installed correctly? Etc...
