When using a monopod, you really have to become the other two legs. Tilt it a little towards you, and put a minute amount of weight on it. Elbows in, both palms firmly on the carmera, exhale, pause & shoot.
I have a couple tripods if you want to borrow one.

That's basically what I was doing... that or bracing the camera/monopod against something solid. It's still not easy when you're doing 3 second exposures. Take a look in the
gallery, it's got all the photos I took... most are terrible.
A tripod w/ an adjustable gimbal, and using the 2 second delay on the shutter so I can be totally hands-off when the picture is taken will really help out. I'm thinking of hitting up Gordon's today and getting a tripod... with the discount card I've got, it's not too expensive.
