Based on the pics, it *appears* that either the clutch fork or the rod it tilts on failed. There's a chunk missing out of the case where the clutch fork goes through, but that might not be an issue. If it is, we have a busted WRX transmission with a good case we can use. Most likely though, we can pull the gearbox and fix the clutch fork issue and check to see if there's an underlying cause for that failure, and go from there. I'm at home so I can't check what the book time for that is, but I'd guess it's in the 5-6 hour ballpark. If his case needs to be replaced, it may be less expensive to source a used gearbox than to have us rebuild it, but I'll have to check on that when I'm back at the shop.
