Default A little mission statement type stuff...

Alright guys... before anything gets out of hand...

This forum (and message board in general) is primarily to facilitate meet planning and to help each other make technical decisions regarding car care and upgrades. While "kill" stories do provide some basis for comparisons as to what helps a make a car faster, they aren't totally reliable due to the tremendous number of variables found on the street, especially the skill of the "other" driver.

Also, people are feeling offended by these stories, and since I personally think excessive driving on the street isn't worth the potential for catastrophy, let's just keep them off the board. As the operator of this board, I feel uncomfortable if there are posts that might instigate someone into driving unsafely. However, I'd love to hear about spotting sweet cars in the area, I just don't care who was faster. Take it to a track and *then* let us know what happened under more controlled conditions.

Please keep in mind that this *is* a forum for friends... most of us know each other personally... please treat each other as you would in person. The anonymity if the internet doesn't exist here.

Also remember, there's a lot of experienced people on this board, instead of arguing with each other, try to learn from other's knowledge. For example, DayOfPain obviously knows something about tuning turbos, since an 11 second WRX is no cheap feat. DKNV has lot's of SCCA (autocross *and* track) experience. AtomicLabMonkey's a Mechanical Engineer with some open wheel training, and knows tons about suspension on solid rear axles.

I don't mind heated discussions, as long as the goal is to come to a conclusion. But I really don't want to have to time-out accounts (and i-club BS like that) because people are simply flaming each other. Remember, it's fine to agree to disagree, and more often than not both sides of an argument are both a little right, and a little wrong.

Let's keep this board among friends, and save the fire-suits for the track.
