I hesitate to believe any reviews from places that also sell detectors for the simple reason that they can't give the V1 a higher rating because the only place to buy a V1 is direct from www.valentine1.com. After all, you can't exactly say "look at all these detectors we sell... it's too bad the best one is only available at someone else's website."

Car & Driver does a detector round-up every few years, and every time, they pick the V1 to be head and shoulders above the rest. Plus, the direction indicators and bogey counter features are patented by V1 and once you've had 'em I doubt you can go back to any other dectector.
