Cingular allows 7 digits for local calls, apparently even when out of my home area code. Perhaps their system automatically adds the area code to 7 digit numbers. Funny how different AT&T and Cingular still are, even though they're the same company now. |
Yeah, Cingular bought AT&T Wireless, but AT&T is still fully independantly operated.... at least for now. The only change I've noticed is that my phone wil sign-on to Cingular networks automatically now and I don't get charged roaming. That's actually pretty nice, since my coverage doubled, and I have a signal on Cingular's towers now in all the places I used to be in a shadow.
