To actually spoil the movie would be rude, so I won’t say too much. Had I not seen it tonight before word got out, I was afraid I would hear something about it to take away some of the surprise. Even with the trailers and brief reviews I did see, there were enough twists & turns to keep me in suspense.
This movie has plenty of action, puzzles, things that make you go ‘hmm’. Reality is woven together with events and artifacts from history. Even with some scenes in which I found myself making an effort to suspend disbelief, the pace of things happening allowed me to lose myself back into the story. As each event unfolded I thought I could guess what was going to happen next, but I was wrong more than I was right. Sure, there are outcomes that could be described as predictable, but only in a broad sense. Under the rickety stairs you should know what to expect next, right? Reach your hand under there, though, and you might be surprised. Enough said on that.
I recommend seeing this if you like riddles or action movies like Indiana Jones, or history. See it when you can suspend disbelief, and can relax and enjoy the fun.
And afterwards, try your hand at a puzzle. Need an easy one to try?
A hint about the movie is actually woven into this review. Non-believers need not apply. Scavenger hunt through the words. When you decipher it, you may not be satisfied with the answer, but you will have exercised your right brain. Experience not required. RSVP.
