the trouble with using a car even a very light car, is that they are already heavier than comparable airframes..it is quite easy to exceed take off weight with passengers and fuel...looks like they took this into account this time around..a crew of one and several hundred pounds to spare for fuel etc. I am amused at the use of Lotus related parts and engines as opposed to more proven aircraft engines...and more to the point I wouldnt want a detachable airframe on a projected 160 mph+ capable aircraft..take the AVE Mizar..on test flight it seperated..pilot, passenger and the poor pinto all perished...but technology has come a long ways since 73'..im eager to see it proven
