Actually, I think the author shows he understands the story of Oedipus fairly well. The paper's just grossly innappropriate.
I actually had some cool english teachers in high school. If I had written that, then verbally defended it as a "comedic perspective" paper, or some other such BS, and demonstraited that I understand the story at hand and that the paper reflected my understanding despite the modern comedic references, I think my teachers would have given me at least a B.
The paper is really only marked down for swearing and irrelevant references, not because there's incorrect stuff about Oedipus. If the kid could show that the crap in there was of parodic nature and that he intentionally did it for comedic value, and that the made up statistics are clearly not intended to be serious, I think he should get a passing grade too. On the other hand, if the kid did it just to be an ass and not because he's a comic genius, then he deserves to fail.
I still think it's 100% fabricated for our amusement.
