IMO, the only reason you need speed bleeders is if you need to bleed the brakes alone inbetween sessions at a track day or something, and then you need to make sure you replace the speed bleeders at least once a year, or more often if you use them frequently.

If you're worried about the thread sealant wearing off, just take out the SB, wire brush off the old stuff and put some new sealant on.
