Maybe 6 years ago. These days South Park gets half their humor because they can make their episodes so quickly they can satarize something that happened yesterday. But watch one of those episodes 3 years from now and it'll be like watching a 3 year old episode of the Daily Show, or an old SnL Weekend Update... jokes about current events aren't usually that funny a 2nd time around.

Family Guy on the other hand doesn't rely on current events so heavily. They stay funny. Granted, as mentioned in the SP episode, lots of Family Guy jokes are interchangeable and non plot specific, they're at least funny. You can only watch Cartman bash Kyle and try to take over the world so many times before it stops being funny (which was about 6 years ago). Go back and watch the 1st season or two of South Park... back when Cartman was just the bumbling fat kid getting abducted by aliens instead of the evil mastermind... it was about eleventy times funnier. When you're whole premise is that it's funny to have little kids doing goofy stuff, you have to make sure the little kids stay naieve, or it's just not that funny.
