Now, you can't "read into" anything that I didn't say myself!

ALEX said that it worried HIM that his air filter was so hot to the touch. If it makes him worry about the situation less for the affore mentioned 3.50, right on!
And yes, the "life" of an air filter being affected by heat is yet another topic with about a million variables, i.e. what kind of filter, how much heat, duration of exposure, but again, if it gives a bit of peace of mind, go for it!
