Yes, we should assist our allies in defending their borders where appropriate, but trying to "police" a civil or internal conflict is like trying to have school children herd rabid cheetahs. And thrusting "democracy" on a country leads me to think of the old horse and water adage. It just isn't going to work.

A lot of people I speak to say this. Or something closely related with the same message. Even most of the people posting in this thread agree with eachother. So why the fuck doesn't the shit that the people want get done? I hope it's not oen of those "the people don't know what they want" kinda things. It's odd to me that so many people agree on something like this, but then the message gets lost when it gets to the people that make the decisions. Kinda the same deal to me as illegal immigration. Most people are against it, but politicians are too *insert adjective here* to have anything done about it. I dunno, maybe I just don't understand politics, but I don't get how this is a democracy if what the people want (for the most part) isn't upheld by those who represent them.
