The Yellows seem to work pretty good on stock brake setups according to the people around here that have used them. Personally, I run something a bit more aggressive, Hawk DTC-70's, but I'm hauling the car down from quite a bit higher speeds than a novice on street tires would be.
When I'm not out there pushing hard, I've run the Porterfield R4's, but the reviews of the new Yellows are promising more pad life, better cold bite, less rotor wear, and they cost a lot less, all for similar performance and feel. Since StopTech's stopped rebranding the Porterfields as their "Club Spec" pads, and seems to be pushing the expensive Pagid line these days, I may opt for some yellows in the future for non-trials days at the tracks. But, much like going to race tires, once you've gone to the expensive kick-ass TOTL stuff, it's hard to dial back... those DTC-70 pads are awesome when they're up to temp!
