I too was scratching my head on this one. If "STI" begins with an "S" then shouldn't "a" be the correct term?
Let's examine the following examples:
A sorbet is refreshing between courses.
A school usually has a library.
A STI is a fast car.
Why does "an" STI sound better??? Because we prounonce it "es tee eye?"
