We did a timing belt job on a stock bugeye WRX today. At only 96k miles one of the toothed idlers was almost seized up. The customer is lucky he decided to do the job early, because I doubt it would have lasted much longer, and that failure would have been ugly. The TB service interval on newer Subarus is 105k, and we don't recommend trying to stretch that out longer. It is very rare to find an intact stock belt at 130k. We also strongly recommend all the idlers and tensioner be replaced along with the timing belt.
