So I got my contacts today... fuck these things! In the immortal words of John Kleven leaning out the window of his '78 Toyota Corna wagon into the glaring headlights of a raised Dodge truck 20 inches from his car: I CAN'T SEE!!! Stupid torx lenses.... I guess one keeps rotating or something because the whole world keeps going double in my left eye. It's making reading a computer screen a nightmare. I'm only supposed to wear them for 4 to 6 hours today, then 2 hours more each day after that if they're comfortable... so I don't know if I'll be able to wear them at the autoX this weekend, which was the whole point of getting them, but at least I'll have 'em for future events. Oh and the woman at the optomitrist's has really nice bewbies.

Those toric lenses are a bitch. I tried them (3 different brands even!) for a few weeks, and my eyes never got used to them. They were always moving around and they are thicker than regular lenses, so I always felt them in there. I ended up getting regular non-toric lenses, in the same prescription, and they seem just fine. I lost a bit of sharpness that the toric lenses provide, but I can never feel the regular ones unless they start getting dry. Worth the trade-off in my case. Ask your optometrist for a sample of the regular lenses and try them out, they might work for you as well. Khail |

I've never tried the toric lenses, don't know how much correction you need, but I ditto Khail, you should try regular ones and see if they are good enough for everyday use. They may be able to let you have a free pair to try, worth asking.

I've got them back in this morning, and they already feel 10 times better. Occationally things seems to go a bit blurry, and I can kinda feel the one in my left eye, but I'm slowly getting used to 'em.

I have the same astigmatism as you, it seems. If you can get used to the toric lenses, then stick with them. They are clearer and more focused than the regular ones I wear. It's really annoying when they move or rotate around though, I don't know if you ever get used to that. Oh, and keep putting drops in your eyes too. They help a lot. I went through the first little bottle of drops in like 2 weeks when I first got my lenses, now one bottle will last me months. Khail |
