Default Want a super-nice hand-tooled knob?

Don't we all?
A guy off nasioc (WRXDriftR) is handmaking these on an old hand lathe. He does barrel/piston styles and spheres to customer specs. He's totally into building whatever size, shape, finish, accents, etc, that you might want. He's selling them through TIC, which is an indication of their qulaity as well, but is also willing to do one-offs for around the same price.

Here's mine...

And some others he's done as one-offs.

Dave asked me forever ago to pick up a Prodrive 6MT knob, and I couldn't find one in Japan, so I figured, why not get something even more individual? The fact that I'll get it back at some point didn't factor into the equasion at all

I normally don't whore parts, but this was too cool not to share. He does 5MT (with a boot retainer) and 6MT stuff.

Nice. Any coating for corrosion protection?

Not that I'm aware of. It's an internal piece, and corrosion shuld be minimal and easily dealt with. I may bead-blast the finish at some point for a super-flat finish, but the sating spun finish looks nice too.

Yes, I'll fix it for you. Again.
Default

WC Lathe Werks Tapered Piston style knob for your Subaru 5MT has the following features:

* Hand turned from 6061-T651 Aluminum
* Weighs 150-180 grams
* 2.4" high overall height
* 1.5" diameter tapering to 1.2"
* Thread bore 2.2" deep
* Machined groove to hold shift boot
* Polished finish

A bit light, I imagine? What does a typical "weighted" knob weigh?
