OMG Internet!
Default Smart Phone Comparo

Apparently the number of apps isn't up to date, but the rest of this graphic is supposedly accurate.

I can't believe how expensive these phones are! I really don't see a smart phone in my near future.

Um... I'm only paying $70/mo for my iPhone. I'm not sure where they're getting that "typical" $110/mo. Also my iPhone has 32GB of storage.

Wow, looks like T-Mobile is coming down to Sprint prices, that's pretty cool. But yeah, on Sprint you can do 450 minutes (plus unlimited calls to any mobile phone on any network in the US) w/ unlimited data and texts for $70. I doubt anyone really needs the $90 plan with the any mobile thing (or if they do, why not go to the truly unlimited one for $10 more).

Palm's App Catalog is up to 1000 apps now (still nowhere near android or iphone) but growing. And they finally announced a native C/C++ SDK finally which will be nice and hopefully help grow the apps and bring on some real games. The also finally added video recording (coming in Feb via OTA software update).

Sense is just the UI component, which can sit on top of Android or WinMobile. If I remember correctly, this will be a WinMobile phone (like you stated) not an Android phone.

I have had first hand experience with both the iPhone and the Moto Droid, and I would still give the iPhone the benefit of the doubt. The applications that come with the Droid are much more refined and tweaker friendly than the iPhone's. Although the prices tend to be on the higher side, the full data plans that come with that price tends to make up for it. I use my iPhone just as much as my computer to post here, Facebook, and email. So, if it really comes down to it, the determining factor as to why one would want to own a smart phone, is if you like to do things on the go, instead of sit down at a computer for moments in a day.
