Well, I tend to read a months worth at a time... so I get a few good chuckles in there every time... I guess if you read it everyday, it won't seem as good.

However, those guys still have a pretty good thumb on the pulse of the game/comic world... something I certainly lost in the 3 years since I've been out of school... so there's usually a lot of insight in their comic/news that I'd othewise miss, which makes me enjoy the site that much more.

I ignored that one, I think I would have gotten the edit tag for it, thus negating my entire post.

Maybe my teh funnay detector is on the fritz... but the only thing funny about that strip is very low level computer geek:

<geek on>
Basically you can represent any number by counting to it. So if I wanted to represent the entire library of congress, all I have to do is count to like 4 quadrillion or something... since a large block of data is really just a *very* large number. I could then transmit that data by telling another computer "start counting.... now!" and then after a long enough time, I'd tell that computer "okay... stop!", and theoretically that computer would now have the same huge data block as me, and I only had to send two bits: start and stop. The problem with that is twofold... 1) you can't possible synchronize the start and stops over any sort of real network due to latency, and 2) more importantly, even the most rediculously fast computer would take thousands of years to count that high. So really, this scheme is much slower than just sending the data via conventional methods. I guess that's why it's funny... because it's so stupid from a low level computer geek perspective.... you know, the kinda joke that makes a nerd push up his taped glasses and snort.
<geek off>
Or maybe it's funny because they're dinosaurs.
