Default difference in batteries

what is the difference in nicd, and nimh battery packs? does one have more of a kick? the reason i ask is im borrowing a 1500 mah nicd battery pack for my r/c car with a 10 turn motor. i heard that this is a minimum amount for this kind of motor. and that the max potential would be a 3600 mah batter pack. i got a 3000 mah nimh pack and the 1500 mah nicd pack seemed faster. could it just be that the brand i bought sucks? or is there further explanation.

For the most part, NiMh batteries are not designed for high discharge rates, and Ni-Cds are.

Almost every cordless tool, and high drain toy still uses Ni-Cds.
