Specifically, the perrin ones? Chris seemed to think that they weren't tonight at the meet.

Come on, the bloddy rule book is on-line...
15.7 ANTI SWAY BARS Substitution, addition, or removal of any anti-roll bar(s) is permitted. Bushing material, method of attachment, and locating points are unrestricted. The key is "method of attachment" = Endlinks.

15.8.C is making me wonder though ... does this apply to endlink bushings? Or just the rest of the bushings?
Perrin endlinks have spherical bushings which are metal. If this rule applies, then I read that I can't use them unless the stock ones also have spherical bushings which are metal. I have no idea how the stock ones work since they have a rubber seal around them. |

Mike, that is how I understand it. The endlink bushing need to contain the same amount of metal/bushing material as the stock ones otherwise they are unlimited.
I don't know about your endlink bushings, whether they are all metal or not, but the Perrin ones are all metal which means I can't use them in SP classes, because my endlinks are not all metal.

I've been looking for a definitive answer to this too. The anti-sway bar section says anything goes, but the suspension section clearly says no increased metal bushings. If I were running in National Tour events or at Nats, I wouldn't press the issue. For our local stuff, I wouldn't care about endlink bushings personally. To me, you're within the spirit of the rules with the Perrins. Others may disagree with that though. Basically the safe choice is not to get spherical bushings, but if you were to get protested for them, you may not actually be DQ'd.
Dean, I think "method of attachment" may mean the actual mounts, not the endlinks. Since endlinks are moving parts attached (on Subarus at least) to the moving parts defined as "suspension" one would have a case to claim it was illegal.

Also, I think Mike's choices for endlinks are severely limited; there may not be any poly bushed endlinks ready for the STi yet, in which case we might need to look the other way on this one, instead of forcing him to buy OEM endlinks every time he autocrosses or goes to the track.

Because they have their own section, 15.8 does not apply to sway bars. 15.7 is the only thing that does. 15.8 applies to all suspension components not otherwise classified.
End links are effectively part of the sway bar. If you could engineer a sway bar that bolted right to the arm with no links, and no bushing, that would be fine as well.

With that in mind, nasioc I know has had discussions about endlinks before; so has sccaforums.com. A search on one or both of those may turn up some postings from people who do run nat. events and/or from someone on the scca seb. |

Well for now I am going to assume that 15.8 doesn't apply, and 15.7 means they are legal, so I am staying in TESP. If I get protested and it turns out I am wrong them my results can be moved to TSM.
