Anybody got a good site for technical wiring/frequency type stuff for satellite TV systems?
Debbie is getting Dish with a 3 LNB dish, and 2 2 tunner boxes, and some of the cabling while it makes sense appears stupid/redundant. I'm also thinking about switching, but want a full understanding of the wiring first. I would think a single peice/segment/hub & Spoke configuration of Coax should be able to handle all the power and frequencies without stepping on each other. Signals I am aware of: To dish: LNB power From Dish to recieveers: Signal from LNB 1 Signal from LNB 2 Signal from LNB 3 From Reciever to TVs Channel 3,4... For some reaon, they are insisting on splitting out everything after the recievers onto seperate lines to get to the second rooms. This at first glance appears silly. I assume the LNB signals are not anywhere near the normal VHF fequency range, and a decent modulator should be able to put the signal for the second sets back on the same cable on channel 3 or 4 without disturbing the LNB signals, or the other reciever's channel 4/3 signal if present. Anybody got some insight, or good reference sites? My attempts at google searches only come up with peple selling junk, not tech info sites.

IIRC, you do not want to mix VHF with the satelite signal. You can get away with mixing the analog and digital on a cable modem/digital cable system because they're designed to co-exist, but IIRC the sat signal uses the frequency range with impunity.
...'course I'm just talking out my ass, I don't really know for sure.

A guy I work with, who has spent thousands of dollars on his setup to avoid paying $10 a month for the charter DVR box, suggested this site for info:
