Default 04-05+? Mirrors

Does the front of the mirror come off? When I say front I am referring to the part that is painted to match the car, not the black plastic part. I finally after months found the location of the most annoying rattle in the world. Just so happens that its located inside my driver mirror. Thats why it was so impossible to find INSIDE THE CAR

I think it does. IIRC, M3n2c3 replaced his black ones on his 05 rs with painted ones.

I moved the actual mirror and looked inside and there are tabs but I pushed one and it really didn't do anything.

Yeah, getting it off of there without breaking it is the trick... I've never done an Impreza before, but Muranos are about the same setup, and it ain't easy.

Yeah, they pop off, but not easily, and the tabs don't really help. They seem to be designed more to remain in place than to facilitate easy removal - I had to jam a screwdriver in and get rough with them. I think I ended up causing a bit of damage to one of the skins. The replacements were also tricky to fit back in.

I changed mine to black a couple years ago. Don't remember it being a big deal.
