Default Unfortionate event.

As some of you know already, on Friday night my rear-passenger side window was ripped out, many valuable things were stolen including my wallet with three photo ID's, two debit cards, my navigation headunit (Kenwood DNX-5120), a St. Christopher Medal (I'm not religious, it was a gift), my AccessPORT v.2, a bunch of change, and many more minor things.

So, getting to the main point, my stock alarm system did not go off. I am interested in purchasing a new security system that will hopefully deter thieves and vandals in the future and give me some nice little features at the same time.

Even though I don't have anything to secure at the moment, I am terrified that I will have to re-live this horrible experience. Especially cause my insurance wouldn't even file a report about it, and secondly, the police wouldn't even come to the scene of the crime to file a report.

I am interested in your inputs, do any of you have experience working with any types of car security systems? Are there any systems on the market right now specifically worth purchasing? And, if so, which ones and why.

As always, thanks for the advice/help in advance.

That's terrible Chris. You must be pissed!

I can tell you one thing that might help you. The OEM alarm system has an adjustment for sensitivity. I've had mine set on max sensitivity for the 6 years I've had it. It never goes off falsley and I would turn up the sensetivity more if I could, but I'm fairly confident that a braking window would make it go off. If you know where the "brain" is, you just turn the adjusment screw through a hole with tape over it with a flat head screwdriver IIRC. I really don't like talking about where the brain is publicly so shoot me a PM if you don't know.

Sorry to hear that.

If I recall correctly, keyless remote != security system... depending on year/model. So he may not even have the stock security system.

His car is/was a bugeye. It's an upgrade that the dealer can install or you can save a ton of money and buy it online and install it yourself. It's very easy since the car is already wired for it from the factory.

Those vipers are nice. I don't know a ton about them, but taylor had one on his truck and there was no way anyone would get into that thing when it was armed, and it was wicked loud. You could throw something semi heavy into the bed of the truck and it would set it off.

Sorry to hear about that man thats so gay.

Well, I went with the Clifford Matrix 50.7X. It hopefully will protect me, and provide me with all the features I need. It really sucks driving around without being able to listen to my tunes though.

My brain went bad after I inspected it..

Sucks man. Post up a "wanted" thread for a new head unit maybe. Khail usually has one or ten laying around.

How did you guess?

I have about five or six right now I think, some in various states of repair. There are a couple that are working fine, but nothing new enough to work with an iPod. Just regular CD/MP3 decks. I do have a nice Eclipse CD8455 in the car right now that I might be taking out in the near future. It was their top of the line unit a few years back, lots of tuning options.

I've had my car broken into a couple of times, but not since I installed the OEM alarm upgrade. It does suck and the police could care less. If you have homeowner's or renter's insurance they might be able to help you out. Otherwise you are on your own pretty much.

I've had a home, and a car burglarized, and one of my lessons learned: have an inventory with serial numbers if possible. I had a palm-pc with serial number that I reported on the police report, ended up turning up at a pawn shop, and I got it back!
Unfortunately, my V1 never did turn up ....

Drift King is right. I think the best way to solve your problem would be to rig your car to explode when someone breaks into it. Can you imagine how fast burglary would drop off if everyone would have that type of security. I can see the commercials now...

I remember seeing something that you could install on your car I make it shoot flames out both sides at the push of a button. I think it was Australia or something cuz it was illegal here, I don't really remember. Something like that would be cool

Dewey, somewhere I've actually got a DEI viper alarm and a turbo timer all wired up for a WRX that came out of my car when I stopped driving it daily. It would probably need some TLC to plug back up, but I'd sell it to ya for like $40. It's got the shock sensor, proximity sensor, backup battery, etc. It was top notch with all the add on features back in '02.

Gonna add a turbo to go w/ that Blitz TT that's wired in-line? (Please say yes!)

I forgot to add that particular note, lol. I'm going to have an NA motor that runs a cool-down cycle.

I appreciate the offer Scott, but I have an alarm on the way. Thanks.

lolol. Same car as always, I was joking about running the TT on the wagon.

I'm not a huge fan of TT's on Subarus, I think they're overkill in most situations when a watercooled turbo is involved.
