Default Electrical trouble. Help?

So I was moving my boost gauge into the new center clock pod I have.. That went well no problem. Then I tried hooking up my digital clock pod, and was told that I could connect the wires from the gauge to the wires that went to the back of the clock. So the connector was cut off, and and my friend was trying all the different wires to see if the clock would turn on or not. nothing worked. So he taped all the wires together and pushed them back into the hole... NOW my radio isnt working. My overhead lights in the car aren't working, and neither is my car locking from the key fob.. Moose checked and none of the fuses were blown.. So we are thinking MAYBE a relay.. The horn works, the gauges work, lights on the dash work, my headlights work.. Everything wrks except those things. OH, and the trip meter resets every time I turn the car off.. When I turn it on it goes back to zero.

I'm going to go back to Mooses tomorrow, and see if we can get the clock gauge hooked up.. So help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated. Im going insane without my stereo. haha.

Thanks,
GusGus

Tell moose to not touch your car anymore.

Still sounds like a fuse. Did Moose check the fuseable links under the hood too?

Ya he checked both fuse boxes.. I'll check again in the sunlight. But say if it wasn't a fuse.. what could it be?

Yes, I'll fix it for you. Again.

I've never seen under the dash of the newer models, but check to make sure none of the local grounds in the center console area got clipped or removed.

So your friend was just randomly touching wires together in your dash, then shoved them, taped together, into the dash... and now shit doesn't work? For some reason, I'm not shocked... There is likely a blown fuse that you simply couldn't find, (were you just looking at the tops of them, or did you have an actual test light?) a missing supply wire somewhere that was cut off, (like Scotty said) or randomly touching wires together cooked a component in the system (such as an illumination switch). Purposely causing power/ground shorts in your car in order to test for power and ground is a really shitty idea, as you now know.

I don't have anything else nice to say, so I'm gonna stop here...

Like I said, check the fat fuseable links under the hood. They look like relays, not fuses. When I accidentally put a drill-bit through the wiring harness in my SVX I blew a link.

Also, checking the wiring diagrams to see how all the non-working items are related will probably point you to whatever's blown.
