Keep in mind that a lot of side mounts will still need those seat bases to work unless someone makes Impreza specific side mounts.

For example, this is what my RaceTechs use:

So I still needed model specific bases as well.

Scott does that convert a bottom mount seat into a side mount? are those FIA approved by chance? I'd like to convert my drivers seat from bottom mount to side mount. (to adjust it front to back for rally-X for jeana) But I'de need something that is fia approved.

alternatively i guess i could put a stock seat back in just for Rallyx ... hmmm

Are the side mounts pictured with the giant FIA logo FIA approved? Um, yes.

They're not really "converters" they're just the normal side mounts that you would usually bolt straight to the floor of the car. But if you've got an unmodified floor (i.e. you still have the factory mounting bumps), then you can use a seat adapter bracket to get a flat set of rails to bolt the side mounts to, but that may not be FIA legal.

In a race car, the proper way is to cut away all the factory mounting bumps and weld a plate to the floor that the side mounts would bolt directly to. That also gets the seat a bit lower. I just used the seat adapter brackets in my WRX because I didn't want to modify the floor pan of the car. I've never had tech inspection issues w/ SCCA... rally might be more strict.

oh sorta missed that (fia in the pic) not sure how... (quick peek and post from work)

I guess I'd really need a side mount style seat and redo the mounts. right now my seat mounts are tied into the Cage, the factory mounts remain as i'm not allowed to remove them. we did cut and pound part of the factory "torque box?" to make room for the seat mounting bars that we put in.

anywho sorry for the thread jack hehe
