Hopefully that's good news for the return of the US GP.

Are they hiring? I'll move to Charlotte for a job sweeping up at an F1 shop. (Janitors for F1 make >$100,000/year, right?)

You'd probably still be a grumpy ass as a janitor.

Ken Anderson, one of the figures behind the plans to start a new F1 team, has confirmed that the new team 'USF1' is planning to contest the 2010 F1 World Championship. Anderson said to the 'Charlotte Observer' that "95%" of the unofficial information found on F1 websites in recent days is correct.

Anderson confirmed that they are looking for possibilities to build the team's headquarters in North Carolina. He also declared that USF1 is close to signing its first driver for 2010. Anderson hinted at an American who is currently racing in a junior open-wheeler series in Europe.

An official announcement of the team is expected later this month.
Looks confirmed, but official announcement is still later this month

Allmendinger is saying that its not his priority right now.

Could be he just has to say that until the official unveiling.

USF1 now called USGPE (US Grand Prix Engineering)

http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headline...04132142.shtml

Quote:
USF1, the new American team for 2010, has been asked by Bernie Ecclestone and Formula One Management (FOM) to change its name.

The North Carolina-based outfit will forthwith be known as 'USGPE' (US Grand Prix Engineering), after FOM - believing it owns the series' name and derivatives - objected to the use of the abbreviation 'F1' in the title.

Existing competitors including Renault, Force India and Toyota all use 'F1' in their respective names, but it is believed FOM accepts these descriptors because they precede the word 'Team'.

The only exception is Williams, whose official trading name is 'WilliamsF1'.

Also at the request of FOM, Force India has changed its official logo for the 2009 season. Previously, the team's 'FI' (including the letter I) logo resembled 'F1' (including the number 1).

This year, the logo features a dot above the I, differentiating it from the official title of the series.

In 2007, it emerged that Formula One Licensing failed to gain exclusive control of the descriptor 'F1'; the UK Trademark Registry ruling that the abbreviation is a generic term and therefore "not registrable as a trademark".
