So, it's off topic for the most part, but it's time to sell the GC. I'm done with the Volkswagen car show scene, don't need the GC for towing anymore and the WRX is gonna handle daily use, so the GC is not needed.
1998 Grand Cherokee, 5.9 Limited. It's basically a Grand Cherokee with a factory tuned version of the Dodge truck 5.9L V8. Torque for days. It was the fastest production SUV of its time, and held that position until the Chevy Trailblazer SS and Jeep SRT-8 came about (save for the Lambo SUV). Note that the Dodge Durango 5.9 RT of the day got the truck engine. The 5.9 GC offered considerable more torque and HP (10%?), though I'm not sure what they did. The 5.9 GC requires premium fuel, my mom/dad averaged 17mpg, I averaged 14mpg before a bunch of work was done, with my daily commute from Spanish Springs (stopping at every single frickin traffic light along the way). About 150k. In my family since new - cousins leased it (preordered before it came out), my dad bought it off them, I bought it off him. He spun it around on Mount Rose a few years back, and later that year was rear ended by a Range Rover SE Sport. So, CarFax would show a couple accidents, but, it's clean. All repair work was done by Paramount. Black/Charcoal leather in PERFECT condition - no shit. Interior is absolutely flawless except for a bit of sunfading on the upper part of the door cards. Black headliner, leather arm rest and door card inserts, leather shifter and transfer case levers, it's full of steeze. Also, Jeep used a different leather for the 5.9 - thicker and softer, and a "rough grain". Full Time 4wd, with two speed transfer case. Just dropped $2k on it this year - new power steering pump with custom steering fluid cooler, new steering box, new Hughes intake plenum (typical 100-150k maintenance of 5.9 engines), etc. All install work was done by Trent Fabrications (off-road shop, rock crawler/race fabricator). Transmission was rebuilt a couple years ago, and serviced several times since. It's got the works as far as a 5.9 tranny (no shift kit available for this tranny). Alignment's been done at least once a year since new as it's always had lifetime alignment through Firestone. Suspension: - H&R lowering springs brought it down about 1.5-2" - the best handling solid axle car you'll drive (well, that I've ever driven). - KYB Gas Adjust Front shocks. - Bilstein Rear shocks. - Hotchkis rear sway bar. - Helper air bags at back for towing - but I blew one out by putting too much air in a couple summers ago when loading up my ragtop for a show. - Prothane sway bar bushings. Wheels: - 20x8" (maybe 20x9???) chrome AR RTS wheels, NO CURBING. - 255/45x20 Bridgestone Dueler Alenza tires with at least another year on them. Optional/Instead of 20s: - OE Jeep Wrangler 15x7" wheels with studded snow tires with only one season (want $500 extra with sale). Other mods: - Pioneer door speakers. - K&N intake. - SSBC brake kit - stainless lines, SSBC slotted rotors. - Replaced SSBC pads with EPS Green Stuff. - I have a full new headlight replacement set (six pieces) in the box, as well as a DDM HID kit. - Ummmm... I think that's it??? Basically, it's a bad ass GC that was the best of the best. However, my interests have taken a different direction, and I don't need it, and don't want to keep it as I know I'll end up dumping money on a lift and whatnot. I'm asking $5k. Why am I posting this here? ![]() ![]() ![]() Possible trades for 99+ 2.5RS Coupe, or 99+ Miata, in similar condition (good-excellent). Also, I'll be letting go of my bike in the spring - '07 Buell XB12Scg with under 8k - may put both the GC and bike towards either a swapped 2.5RS Coupe or mildly modded Bugeye or other WRX, again, in similar condition. Sorry for the crappy pics, they're what I had on the phone, taken just after putting some vinyl on it. Vinyl is coming off this weekend, and will get some better pics at the same time. ![]() ![]() Last edited by rory_a; 2010-10-08 at 03:44 PM. |

Worth mentioning on this right off the bat - my dad's somewhat OCD, especially when it comes to cars. He's ensured that the leather has been treated twice a year since new. The paint is clean, but the louvers on the hood have pealing clear coat. It's been taken care of. I'd like to keep it simply because I know I'll never find something this age in this kind of shape. But, I want a toy that's not a 50 year old Volkswagen, as I think that's the direction I'll head regardless of trade.

Got any pictures? I'll pass this along to Lisa's stepdad... though I think he really wants a pickup, not an SUV.
