Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.
Default WTBorrow: Thin wheels/tires (<=205s) for a few hours

I have been fighting with Debbie's old L with what appeared to be a brake problem. a nasty vertical vibration under light-moderate braking especially around 40MPH...

The new theory is it is actually a tire problem. They look new at first, second and third glance, but they appear to have been sitting for a long time, possibly under inflated and have a discernible dry-rot/flat spot in the tread only... Sidewalls are fine.

It has stock 185s, and the thinnest thing I have is my 225 snows which aren't even close to fitting. To test this theory, I need some thin wheels/tiires 5x100 205 series or narrower for a couple hours...

Anybody have some stockers or steelies with tires sitting around?

Actually, my stockers may fit. The only problem is that there are nails in two of the wheels that I need to get fixed. They hold air (except front right, and even that holds air for a long time)... They're 205/55/16. PM me if you are interested.

I've got stock size (205/55/16) snows on my stock wheels that you can borrow. They're in Stead though. I could probably drop them off for you tomorrow if it buys me one free truck delivery of something I buy that won't fit in my car. I'm thinking of looking for a patio set this weekend.

Thanks Jake, I'll keep you in mind, but I'd prefer not to use ones that have nails in them and questionable pressures while trying to diagnose this issue...

Cody, You have a sport wagon. Anything that doesn't fit inside gets strapped to the roof. We can arrange something if nothing else comes through. Even 205 might be tight. Almost always happy to help out with the truck if I am not doing something else.

Yah, I plan to utilize the functionality that is wagon as much as possible. I probably won't need a truck, but we're going shopping tomorrow late morning/early afternoon so call me in the morning if you want me to drop them off.

I've got a set of 205/55 snows on my '99 RS wheels if you want to borrow those Dean. Could fit under there with no problems.

Haha, yeah. I understand. I've got to take them to the stealership to see if they'll fix em.

Not there. Discount Tire, Big-O, or somebody... Call around and see who will do it, what they will do and for how much.

Personally, I think the best thing is if they are "plugged" and patched as long as the guy putting in the plug doesn't destroy any more of the belts than the nail already did. The plug seals the hole on the outside and prevents the elements from getting to the steel belts and the patch from the inside holds the pressure.
