Default silly question...

Is there a "mod friendly" smog station in Reno? Or are they all the same, good or bad? Any recommendations would be great. Has anyone with extensive exhaust work had any trouble passing inspection?

BTW- Is there an expert out there who can help me install my new up pipe?

Thanks!

As long as your car is OBD-II, then all they do for the smog is plug their machine to the diagnostic port and check the sensors. So as long as you don't have a CEL on when you get the smog, you should pass.

Thanks, Khail.

Do they do any kind of visual inspection to see if all the cats are there? If you have any old codes in the system will that matter? Or is it only curent CEL's?

No, the one up here on North McCarran by Del Taco has a decent reputation, no inspection really, pretty laid back guy...

Yeah, with mine the guy plugged in the machine, looked at the screen, and printed the copy for me. He didn't even check if I had a gas cap, let alone look for cats. This was the Shell on Moana & Kietzke.

I just smogged the SVX and the WRX yesterday. SVX is OBD-I so there was a sniffer check, but the car was fine. The WRX was still completely decked out from the track day, numbers, stickers, no back seats, etc. and it still passed, no problem (just a error code for the "throttle position sensor" was in the ECU, but no CEL).

The place is a little beat-ass shop on S. Virgina just north of the WinCo. It's like "NKJ Auto" or something. There's a little used car lot there too. The guy's done the WRX twice now and I've had no issues.
