Car: 2005 Subaru Wrx Sti
Default brakes help

A couple questions about brakes. i have/had a 2005 Subaru Sti.

1. Does anybody know if the car has to be on/running to run a brake inspection?

2. Ive done some research and haven't figured this one out yet. In my Sti whenever i would apply the brakes heavily there would be a loud beep/buzzing, similar to how the rev limiter sounds. Does anybody know exactly what that noise is?

I havnt posted on here since 3/24/2007, i cant believe how big this forum is getting

okay so i called subaru and talked to a technician, he said sti's dont come with stock brake pad sensors and the ABS sensor doesnt make an audible noise. So now, im kinda freaked out why my car makes that noise. hahaha shit

Are you stomping on the throttle and the brake?

Does the car have to be moving or can you stomp on the brakes while at a stop and get it to do it then too? Any warning lights on the dash come on?

Welcome to seccs. I hope you find the answer you are looking for. I will search some of nasioc/iwsti to see if there is any info over there.

Okay well long story short i took my sti to a certain shop, which will remain unsaid, and i believe they did a horrible job with my brakes. and during the last snow storm about 2 weeks ago on a Saturday, i was involved in a crash. my brakes were not responsive during the collision. I'm trying to go after the shop for all the damages and stuff. I find out later this week if the car is totaled or not. Apparently its dependent on the insurance taking the car to subaru and seeing if there was damage to the engine, ( i rear-ended someone else, and scratched a limo ) fortunately i know better then to go fast in snow, even with AWD and i was going about 5-10 mph but still managed to get my car OWNED! the other cars where fine, small dent on a legacy and scratch on a limo from my side mirror. But subaru is also going to determine if the brakes were bad, and then the insurance is going to go after the shop and ill file a separate claim/lawsuit against them. still sucks tho, i loved my car.

but i'm going to buy it back from the insurance and get all my parts off it and probably part it out.
but thats the reason i was asking those questions. the insurance shop said they couldn't check the brakes them selves cause the car needed to be on. yup

No one you would go to Matt.
I know who but I am not gonna say since on seems like he doesn't want to disclose them.

STi breaks are stupid easy though i dunno how you could screw them up unless you let the caliper hang from the brake line.
