Cory, just put a 4g63 in it.
Default final diagnosis on my shoulder :(

Well the MRI came back today and we found out that my rotator cuff is fine, which is the good news. The bad news is that i basically obliterated my labrum. For those of you who are not medically inclined the labrum is basically like a menisucus of your shoulder. when you eat a chicken wing and you tear the two bones apart, the clearish cup-like thing between the bones is the labrum.

I go to the shoulder specialist tomorrow but from the report on the MRI I may end up having to have an incision instead of an arthoscopic surgery and end up with a bunch of titanium tacks haloding my labrum to the bone.

Anyone ever had shoulder surgery here? Recovery time/stories?

Oh shit son! That's not good...

Never a shoulder, but I dislocated my hip when I was 15. Cried like a little girl! That was not good. A few months of phys. therapy, and 11 years later, it still ain't right!

(probably not what you wanted to hear, but all troof!)

If you get a bionic arm maybe cobb can make a map for it so you can shift quicker. Still, sorry to hear about it.

Thanks guys. Ill keep you posted. Hopefully I will be alright to swim and surf in Hawaii over Thanksgiving and snowmobile in Idaho over christmas.

Snowmobiling, wakeboarding, and snowboarding all now require this after the surgery for at least a year:

How did it happen? I have to get surgery on my shoulder sometime (hopefully before it dislocates again), but I dunno when I'm gonna do it. So I guess I'm no help...

Well they shot me up with cortizone and ordered four weeks of PT and then he will re-check it and operate if necesary. He said there is a 25% chance of the PT working and that the recovery time from the surgery is 4-5 months. When my dad heard that he said why not just do the surgery now so he can snowmobile end of december instead of ruining that trip along with hawaii and the guy said it wasnt an option. After speaking to our GP we found out the doctor is VERY conservatice, so now we are going for a second opinion to another doctor that hopefully will be more gung hoe to get the surgery out of the way since it seems as if it is very likely i wil need it anyways.

I thought cortizone helped with pain but it made it more sore than it was

Damn doctors

Cortizone will help with swelling, which in turn should reduce the pain... but it's not a pain killer.

Tahoe Fracture Clinic in Carson or South Shore. Best Orthopedic group around, especially for younger folks w/sports related injuries. Jeff Cummings or Steve Bannar are the surgeons of choice there....

Personally I wouldn't be so eager to get hacked up if there's another option, IMO surgery is pretty much a last resort. There are a lot of things that can go wrong with it. I wish you the best though.

Get a bionic arm, and while your at it get a cannon grafted to your chest, to crush those who disobey you.

Shit, just be a bionic-ricer.... get drugs for the pain, and a noisemaker that just does the "BA-na-na-na-na-na-na" sound whenever you move the arm. No $6 Million parts needed.

Surgery could be last resort... unless it will ultimately solve the problem. Who knows the later complications of just doing PT with no reconnection of the Labrum. Although it may have its risks it could be potentially better for a quicker recovery and overall better shoulder strength/durability.

Maybe I should clarify; definitely get a second opinion, no doubt. That's just a good idea when there's a major injury involved. I'm just saying don't be in a big rush to get a quick surgery fix just because of some activities you have scheduled. That'd be a tad short-sighted.

Hell, If I broke my leg in the middle of snowboard season I would have a titanium plate put in ASAP instead of waiting for that to heal.

Good luck with that attitude, when you're 35 and hobbling around like a 70yr old.

The thing about the surgery deal is that i have had this problem on and off for about 4 years now, and now it finally went. I have been doing PT with my trainer for nearly all 4 years that is why we are ready for the surgery to just happen.

Physical therapy yesterday sucked.
