The other way around, almost. The Opel (not Vauxhall) GT is based on the Saturn Sky Redline. Both are built in America.

Ah, I thought they started with the Opel (which is why they bought the company in the first place) and made the Sky/Solstice from it.

No, there was a precursor of the Opel, but the new one is based on the Sky/Solstice. All three were developed in parallel in the US and built here as well.
