The Baja, circa 2003-2006, was a plastic-wrapped eyesore that married the worst features of tiny trucks and cars. A scrawny, useless cargo bed was combined with a cramped back seat and an underpowered four-cylinder engine.
Since when is a 250hp turbo motor "an underpowered four-cylinder engine"? Even the N/A motor was 170hp with plenty of torque... no one complains that the RS/TS of that era was "underpowered". I mean, with so many accurate reasons to bash the Baja, why bother bitching about the power when there was an optional turbo version that was smoking fast?

The Baja was way too heavy and poorly geared. It really was a dog despite being equipped with good engines.

Dude, it could have a three speed auto and it's still not "underpowered" with 250hp. It's not that heavy... we're not talking about an M1A1. Hell, my 7,000 lb truck only has 275hp and it can do 90mph up over Donner with a 5,000 trailer behind it.

It can't be much heavier than a similarly equipped Outback or Legacy of the same vintage (both of which didn't have a turbo option until the redesign in 05).

I actually happen to like the Baja.
