Mother Earth got the shivers...
At least it was only in the 3.x magnitude, with a couple of other smaller ones since. I don't really want to be here if there's a bigger one though.

There have been a string of small earthquakes around Mogul over the last few months. I bet this one was another of those.

You are in a slab house, try it in a taller one with minimal 1st floor cross support.

And it was still nothing compared to what I grew up with in CA.

If you want to see what's going on with the earthquakes, check this link to the USGS...
http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/latest.htm

There are about 40-50 fault lines (or more) under Reno, and Verdi/Mogul area has been hit with 6.0+ quakes in 1914 and 1948.

Just a reminder, lots of small quakes are good! They prevent the one big snap that levels the city. I remember getting "earthquake swarms" on the Hayward fault back in San Ramon in the early '90s. At the time the Hayward fault was way over-due for a 7.0+ quake, but I think all the little 3.0-5.0 quakes (there were like 20 in a week or something crazy... it seems like one every 2 to 4 hours) must have released the tension, 'cause the big one never came.

'Course, these could just be pre-shocks. And the Hayward fault might still generate an 8.0 tomorrow. Earthquakes are unpredictable like that.

They are just like tornadoes except the house only moves due to the ground shaking, it doesn't get picked up off it's cinder blocks and tossed into the next county.

That one felt bigger. (That's what she said.... )

And another...

Maybe California is going to fall into the ocean... Or Yosemite going to erupt.

As Scott said, I'd much rather have a bunch of 2s & 3s than a single 5 or 6+
