Default GrimmSpeed Master Cylinder Brace 93-07 Impreza/WRX/STi

http://www.grimmspeed.com/catalog/pr...roducts_id=217

Price: $99.99

Pressing Subaru brakes leaves a lot to be desired, especially when every inch counts in a race or when you are depending on them to save your life! The dramatic firewall flex is the source of this performance flaw in Subarus that we came to solve. Skipping the "standard bracket" that others have been making we engineered the most simple to install and best performing master cylinder brace on the market. The GrimmSpeed™ Master Cylinder Brace takes a beating and comes back for more! Crafted from hardcore CNC laser cut 12L14 with multi-point welded fabrication. It is the Abrams Tank of master cylinder braces touting 4 factory mounting points. Powdercoated black this brace will outlive your car and win you some style points to boot. Most importantly this brace kit will kill your wimpy pedal feel and give you the immediate and tight response that your performance car deserves and needs when you hit the track or rally. This brace will give you the confidence similar to that of SS braided brake lines with precision stopping. Not to mention street driving just got a whole lot more fun!

Master Cylinder Movement Reduced 60.3%
Fits all Subaru 93-07 Impreza models / 05-06 Saab 92-X / 94-99 Legacy / 03-08 Forester
Indestructable 12L14 CNC Laser cut construction and black powder coating
Pedal feel dramatically improved - Similar feeling to SS Braided brake lines
Large diameter pressure cup - Will not mar and damage the master cylinder like other braces
Simple Allen key locking mechanism

I know a TON of changes took place in 2009, affecting the SP rules. That's how my car ended up eligible. All at once, big brakes, adjustable suspension lateral links, and a number of other things were good to go. Based on this wording, I would guess it's legal... but I'm really shitty at translating SCCA rules into English...

Excellent. I should finally take advantage of one of those changed rules.

Guys, I am pretty sure the bracket is not SP legal.

Quote:
15.6 BRAKES
Vehicles may only exceed the allowances of 13.6 as specified herein.
A. Any brake line, master cylinder, vacuum brake booster, or brake proportioning valve that meets the requirements of 3.3.3.B.12 may be used. This does not allow multiple separate cylinders.
Sounds like you would be OK, if you can change the master, surely you can change brackets to do so and if you can for a different MC, you can add a bracket to the existing one. Alas, SP doesn't work that way. If it doesn't say you can change/add brackets, you can't even do so to install a permitted mod like a different MC.

Look at section E.
Quote:
E. Drum brakes may be replaced with disc brakes. Disc brake rotors for such a conversion must be equal to or greater in diameter than the inside diameter of the standard brake drum. Changes to backing plates/mounting brackets/brake lines to accommodate this change are permitted but may serve no other purpose.
That specifically permits changes to brackets but even restricts their purpose. If this was in the same language was in the master cylinder section, you still could not do it since the bracket serves the additional purpose of adding rigidity.

So I would say you are still out of luck in SP.

In autocross, everything is legal until it's protested and upheld. Remember the STS guy that bolted a giant useless wing to the center of his roof in order to get the rules clarified, then no one bothered to protest him?

On another note regarding the SP legality. It's probably not illegal to add the bracket as long as it doesn't do anything... so just un-twist the pressure cup for autocross...
