			So I switched from Mobil 1 5w30 to Royal Purple 5w30 this time around.  I have to say, I like it better so far.  Butt-dyno says acceleration is a bit peppier and smoother, but you know how that goes.  Still, it definitely seems much happier in the morning, in particular.  I was running 15-50 M1 in my motor the last time it died. I don't think it was the oil, but why chance it. I'm planning on running RedLine in the car once the motor's broken in. Also, 5-30 and 10-30 should be the same viscosity once up to temperature. The only difference is that the 5-30 oil is thinner at low temps.

			I should note that I don't care much for Mobil1 at all anymore.  I have their synthetic in the transmission, the recommended 75w90, and I've hated it since day one.  Next change, I'll either be going back to OEM or trying Redline.

			Ew yah, don't run Mobil-1 in the tranny...way too slippery.  OEM is actually quite good.  I switched to Uncle Scotty's but I don't get what all the rave reviews are about.  It feels almost identicle, except maybe I can down shift into 1st a little easier.

			Yeah, most synthetic gear oils suck in Subarus. Go with 75w90NS or some Lightweight Shockproof next time. I would say "oem" except there really isn't such a thiing. Dealers just use the cheap bulk stuff as far as I know.
