Car: Three-Dead-Hooker-Trunk Devilmobile Xfire: Kunikos | Got Dinged for Expired Registration

Well, I was kinda wondering why my wife got something in the mail for her car registration and I hadn't and I realized about 20-30 sec before I got pulled over by Five-Oh that my shit was expired already. Anyway, so I guess I can go get some of the fine reduced if I go with the renewed registration to pay the fine (or at least that's what the officer said). Has anyone else had to do this before or heard about it? I'm just curious what kind of reduction I could be getting. $140 sucks. That's before I get my shit smogged and renewed (with late fees no less) too. I think I'm going to do the smog + renewal at Instant Smog at the Mission Car Wash. Anyone done it there before? (Or other Instant Smog locations?) P.S. What the fudge is wrong with lame ass Nevada making you resmog your vehicle every time you have to sneeze? 90 days for emission test validity is bullshit. In California it's like you only have to smog test every 5 years. Ugh.

I got my emissions test done and registration renewed this morning (was very fast and easy), cost me roughly $140 ($35 late charge, ouch). After talking with a coworker, he said I should bring the ticket and my renewed registration to the court date and see if the judge would drop the ticket. Has anyone else done this successfully before? My coworker assured me that because the judge has more authority even if he didn't drop the ticket he could reduce the fine lower than any clerk would be able to.

I don't have personal experience, but that's what I've heard here too. Just show up, tell them the story about how it totally slipped your mind and you didn't get anything from the DMV.

First 6 years are waived. Every two years after that.

If you rock a new car every 6 years, it's not a bad deal. ...except for the living in a communist country part.

I was under the impression that by some year (2010? 2012?) smog stations are going to have AWD rollers.

something like that. AWD are exempt from non AWD dynos. It's only a matter of time before they go AWD.

I have a somewhat funny show-up-to-court story... I got a speeding ticket in some small South Carolina town (I forget the name, Chester maybe). It was for 15mph over = 4 pts. so it was a big fine and a bigger hit on insurance. I decided to try to get it reduced. So I got dressed up a little, took off work, and drove the 1/2 hour to the court date. So I get there and there are like 100+ people milling around the big waiting room outside the courtroom. I luck into a seat... but it was next to some old guy who smelled like whiskey and feet, had on holey jeans, hadn't washed his hair in gawd-knows, and had muddy boots on. He literally asked me, "What'er ya' in fur?". I told him it was just a speeding ticket, and he informed me that he got served a warrant for various... things. I was thinking, "Holy shit, your going in front of a judge drunk (at 9am) and looking like that?!?!?!". Also was wondering how all this was gonna go down in front of a judge and all. So... about 5 minutes before the scheduled court time a guy comes out into the middle of the waiting room and loudly speaks, "Anybody who's here for a 4-point ticket who wants to plead to a 2-point violation please see the lady at the window and pay your $80!" Then almost the whole waiting room furiously converges on the "ticket window". I was about 15 minutes back. Well. it prolly saved me $1000 on insurance in SC... |

Wait... you didn't stick around for Jedediah's appearance? Nothing short of threat of termination would have kept me from hanging around for that.
