I heard the story:
Woman driver (  ), left it in reverse and thought it was in drive. Stomped on the gas instead of the brake and backed it right up on to the barrier. Thank god that thing was there, or that'd be an SUV parked right in a gas pump!

Bascially that rail is so high, the truck had to have backed into it hard. The rear bumper probably got beat up pretty good and kinda tossed the rear end up where it came to rest on the rail as seen in the picture.
