I checked the big tent in Gart Sport's parking lot, but they don't have any snowboard boots in size 14. Anybody have any recommendations for a ski/board shop in town...or even a website? I'd really like to get some with the Boa laces I think. Any particular brand you guys like? My friend is a beginner, but she likes her Vans Boa laced boots she got last year. I really want to try a couple different ones on. Damn these boats that I call feet!

I'd skip Gart and go to a dedicated shop. I think they'll do you better. I can't remember the name, but there is one on Plum and South Virginia (north-eastern quadrant). If I finally get around to buying new boots, thats probably where I will go. I'm looking at a set of K2's with the Boa laces myself. My sister has a pair, and loves them. We both have the same set of bad feet too, so I think I'm going to try out a set, considering my other boots (thirtytwo Prions) were really cramping my feet.

Nick, is that Mogul Mouse you're thinking of? It's on Moana, between S. Virginia and Keitzke (across the street from Sushi Club). That's where I got my board a while back (that's since been sold to Cody). Also, MattR used to work there back in the day... like way back in the day.

Alright, the boa laces rock but depending on your riding style and how stiff you like your boots they may not be teh best choice for you. The new line this year for 32 has cut alot off their outer boot, my buddy back home has size 13s and they made the outerboot for that size at least an inch to 1 1/2 inches smaller, which dramatically reduces on the toe drag for you guys with aircraft carrier's for feet. As for the Van's line of boots, their boa system sucks. For any hard riding the wire gets stuck or frozen and then your boot is stuck on you. Happened twice last year to the leading female for my team. I personally ride DC's I love em, if your going to get boa's get the top of the line model w/ the air sacs in them, they are the way to go, but the system is definately overrated. While I am riding I am constantly re-tightening them. Now lets talk about response and boot flex. If you like instant response from your boot, u should definately go with the salomon malamute. They are super stiff and well worth the $. If you are more into freestyle stuff and want a little more flexible of a boot, rock the burton line-up. Most importantly of all, don't skimp on buying boots. You want something that is comfortable, tight and gives support. Your toes should touch the front of the boot, and remember brand new boots will pack out and become looser so keep that in mind. The last thing anyone wants is a broken ankle, especially trying to drive with a cast and a clutch.

Mogul Mouse only has one pair of boots in my size and their some crappy Vans. I'm going to call Copelands and Out of Bounds next. Keep the suggestions coming.

The only size 14 boa lace boots I could find in town were some Van's at Mogul Mouse. They were like $155 out the door including a 10% discount since they're having a sale there. They feel a little soft, but I get no heel lift which is a big improvement and they just seem to fit my feet well. The laces also have a two year warranty and the boots themselves have a 1 year warranty. I know they aren't the best out there, but I think they'll work well. What boots did you get Nick? |
