Sid's on 4th street will do it for about $60, and no drive over Mt. Rose highway.

^He meant that he bought the tires at tire rack and then had them installed at COSTCO.

I'm also thinking about tires for summer. I plan on running my 16x7 RS wheels, and getting some nice tires for them. 17's just seem to be too large on my cars.
The stock size is 205/55/16, and I would like wider/stiffer without adding much (if any) weight. However, there is not likely to be much in the way of selection for 215/50/16 (wider/shorter), so I was thinking about 205/50/16. I imagine 225s to be too wide for 16x7. Anybody with experience with 16's want to chime in?

I ran 225/50/16 Toyo Proxes 4's on my stock 16X6.5" rims and they may have squirmed a tad, but were awesome in every other way. They also won't screw with your speedo like 205/50's will. They're sitting in my backyard if you want to try them.

Actually, I don't care about the speedo too much, as long as I'm within 5% or so.
If what you say is true, then 225/45s might actually work, and give me a little better acceleration.

The only issue may be fender clearance. I *think* most people fit the 225's on the older body styles w/o rolling the rear fenders... but I honestly don't know for sure what fits.

I'm more concerned with the performance of a tire that is possibly too wide for the rim, if the sidewall performance goes to hell or something. I don't want to handicap myself with a heavier, poorer-performing tire size.

I don't think your 7" wide rim will be too narrow for 225's. As I said, 225's on my 6.5" rim were fine.
Just for the hell of it, I pulled up Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs in 225/50R16 on Tire Rack and it says they fit rims from 7-9" wide. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...um%3D25VR6Z1SS

I have a set of 225/45R16 Hankook RS2s you can have for cheap. nothing wrong with them, except that they're not 255s.

Does anyone have some 18"s with 245's on them? I would like to fit them on my car to test clearance.

Heh, I just picked up Kevin's 16's, so I will be getting rid of my 17" Lightstars for sure, they are just too big for my cars. They will be most affordable, and still have 615s on them.

I currently have 18s on my car. I am stating that to buy another set of tires would be too financially challenging for me.
