Just because you can prevent the CEL doesn't mean you can also set the tests to "pass". I believe only the '02/'03 WRX ECU has been sorted out for that at this point. The newer cars still need to actually pass their self-tests.

Yeah, like Scott said, I got denied on my 04 STi w/accessport because I'd reset the ecu too soon prior to the test. If the ECU hasn't had enough time to run some of it's own diagnostic checks, the emissions test is able to pick up on that. It doesn't "fail" you but they say it is unable to be tested at this time. Usually needs 30-40 miles of driving on it to complete from what I've read.

Did you have CELs for EVAP or other emissions systems, or just ones for cat efficiency or something? Like I said earlier, there are two things needed to pass emissions: no CEL, and all the readiness monitors need to be set.

Just because you turned off some CELs doesn't mean that you hacked the monitors to return "passed". It just means that your car legitimately passed those tests.

You are the one turning it into a fight. He never said you didn't pass, he explained what it takes to pass smog. You had no CELs and all your readiness monitors were good to go so you passed. You are one of the most argumentative people on this forum.

You can't have CELs, but you can have one unset monitor. That's how I got the RS to pass the day before I left for Hawthorne- somehow I managed to get about 60 miles on it between connecting the battery after the swap and the P0420 cycle finished. Usually that one finishes before the evap canister monitor does (at least on my wagon, which is the same model year) so I was pretty lucky there. I also got the blue coupe I had to smog with just 12 miles on it after a DeltaDash code reset once. That didn't suck, since it was throwing intermittent P0420 thanks to the header back then.
