According to Jeremy 2 weeks ago, the track is currently under a couple feet of snow.

Everyone, bring your snow tires to test'n'tune! If not, we can race the snow plows for a few laps.

I don't think they have any intention of plowing it. Don't want to risk damaging the surface. I think as fast as that track is, it would be insane even with snow tires if you actually accelerated on an of the straight bits, you would be ABSing and comprssion braking for the last 1/2 the straights trying to slow down for the corners. I'm not even sure you could stay up on the banking in the horseshoe. Gravity might just suck you down to the inside at any reasonable speed. Might be fun to try though.

Let's start throwing around dates for the '05 version. How about this weekend?

Assuming you are refering to something TNL/NASA related/sanctioned, you would need to look at their calendar.

We're already throwing around dates w/ ET. So far it looks like a July weekend might be in the works. Either 7/9-10 or 7/23-24. Opinions?

Actually..when is the next event for the club? Im looking to do a "try and buy", where some well regarded member who is at the particular track event gets to try out some different pads for a session or so, and then swap back to what they had, and give the club some feedback..and turn that into sales (of course). Its one of those ways that I/we can turn sticker shock of good pads into an understanding of the differences. When I quote $225 for R4-S pads to an STi owner..they blink..lots. $40k for a car, thousands perhaps in go-fast stuff, but for brakes, many people still seem to have this 'tread softly' budget. You cant add 150Hp to a car, attend a track day, and continue with a non-track specific brake pad for long. Not a flame, just looking for ways to help shift points of view..stopping is WAY more important that accelerating.

With R4-S's on my "Stage 2" WRX (~210 WHP) and new ATE fluid, I got some noticeable fade at RFR. They aren't track pads. The next SCCA event at RFR is Jul 22-23. http://www.renoscca.com/events/2006/...20Schedule.htm But maybe check the "Calendar" link at the top of the page too.

There's no such thing as a perfect street pad that's also a perfect track pad. Too many tradeoffs, but IMHO, the R-4S is a pretty sweet place to be on the map if you need one that can do both within reason.

I agree 100% having run them on the track and autoX (only once each) and on the street through all last winter up here in the cold. They are having your cake and eating it too...almost.

However, I still switch over to the Axxis Ultimates for autocross. I've had nothing but good luck w/ the Ultimates for excellent cold grip, and they seem to be pretty gentle on the rotors. The Ultimates dust like crazy though... I had a set on my SVX and they're just too messy for the street. I've switched to the Metal Masters on that car and I'm 10 time happier. What are the changes to the Axxis pads that are concerning people? I've been using 'em for about 4 years now and never had an issue.

Extremely high friction rates at street temps. Theyre just not recommended for temperatures over 600d, which should be within autox use easily.
